Cover Whale cannot fulfill backdating requests in general. Consideration for exceptions can be requested for endorsements received after hours, over a weekend, or on a holiday. In such cases, we must receive these requests on the following business day:
- Make sure the request states a clear intent and reflects a desired effective date for the change.
- Provide signed documents from the policyholder in the Files tab on the submission.
- Add a comment in the Notes tab of the submission.
In the event of a total loss, please upload a copy of the Claims Settlement Report to the Files tab and email a request for backdated review to hello@coverwhale.com. Please note, the settlement report must clearly indicate the date of loss, the VIN, and confirm the unit was deemed a total loss. If approved, the effective date utilized for the change to remove the unit would be the day after the date of loss.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your request is handled effectively and promptly. However, please note that backdating requests are only honored in the specific situations mentioned above.
