Here's how agents can get certified:
Once the policy or endorsement is bound, an agent can file for certification with IANA at UIIA.org. Alternatively, Cover Whale may file on the agent's behalf, but the agent must provide the following and email the request to filings@coverwhale.com:
- Motor Carrier’s Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) – This is four-digit alpha code that is used to identify the Motor Carrier.
- Insurance Agent Code – This code is provided to the Motor Carrier when they join the UIIA and is used by the Motor Carrier to grant insurance agents access to submit insurance on their company’s behalf. For further support, the policyholder may review this helpful video from IANA.
- Form 5C – This is the equipment provider (EP) list from the UIIA. Intermodal truckers are required to list the equipment providers they intend to do business with under the UIIA agreement. Insurance companies require this to know which equipment providers need the additional insured endorsement. Agents can obtain a blank copy of the form under the Submission Files or via this link.
Questions regarding the online insurance registration process may be directed via e-mail to uiia@intermodal.org or by phone to (877)438-8442.
