Q. How do policyholders receive information about their membership?
A. Shortly after signing up--either by filling out the form on the Cover Whale registration page or by choosing to include the cost of an RSM membership in their insurance down payment at checkout--members will receive a welcome communication via email from RoadsideMASTERS (RSM). The welcome communication, which will include their membership cards and handbook, will provide all the necessary information to set policyholders up for success with their new roadside assistance program.

Q. Can the member cancel their membership and/or receive a refund?
A. The answer to this question varies slightly, based on registration method. If the policyholder signed up for a RoadsideMASTERS membership during checkout--paying the annual cost upfront at a 60%+ discount--the cost is non-refundable.

If the policyholder signed up for a monthly payment plan at roadsidemasters.com/partner/coverwhale/ and would like to cancel their membership, they can notify RoadsideMASTERS.com in writing or via email, and RSM will stop future charges on the member's monthly payment plan. For the most up-to-date information on RSM's cancellation processes, members should refer to their membership handbook, or contact RoadsideMASTERS customer service directly.

Q. If my Cover Whale insurance coverage is canceled, will my RSM membership be canceled?
A. It depends on the reason for and timing of the cancellation.

  • Midterm cancellations (RSM membership paid in full): If a member's insurance policy is canceled midterm, but they already had paid for a full year's RSM membership during the original insurance checkout process, their RSM membership will remain active through the end of its original coverage term. No cancellation will be initiated with RSM, as the member's roadside assistance benefits are considered active for the period they've already paid for.

  • Flat cancellations due to non-payment or underwriting: If a policy is flat canceled--for example, due to non-payment or an underwriting decision--and Cover Whale has not yet received the policyholder's down payment, their RSM membership will also be canceled. In this scenario, a cancellation is transmitted to RSM and no roadside assistance benefits will be in effect.

  • Reinstated policies: If a canceled policy is subsequently reinstated, a new RSM enrollment will be initiated at that time. The policyholder's RSM membership will be treated as a new enrollment effective the reinstatement date.

Q. Who administers the program? How does the member request service?
A. Regardless of registration method, the program is fully administered and serviced by RoadsideMASTERS (RSM).  General inquiries as well as service requests can be directed to RSM's customer service team at (800) 395-4908.

Q. Does Cover Whale's Auto Physical Damage coverage include roadside assistance?
A. Our Auto Physical Damage (APD) policies include a towing limit for a covered loss; however, APD coverage cannot be used for roadside assistance, mechanical breakdowns, or wear and tear losses. A covered loss must be a sudden, direct, accidental loss resulting in damage to the policyholder's unit.
