Choosing Your Telemetry Data-Sharing Method
To help manage risk and keep premiums affordable, telemetry data sharing is a required part of Cover Whale’s Auto Liability insurance program. Policyholders can meet this requirement by either connecting an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or installing a dashcam. Below, we outline both options, including new updates to our dashcam policy and underwriting fees.
Option 1: Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Connection
Best Value – Save $500 per vehicle
Why Choose ELD?
- The fastest and easiest way to meet insurer requirements.
- No new equipment installation needed—just connect your existing ELD.
- Helps ensure compliance while maintaining driver privacy.
- Lower underwriting fees.
Underwriting Fees (per vehicle):
- New Business: $599
- Renewal: $299.50 (50% renewal discount)
How to Connect Your ELD:
- Check your email: After binding, you'll receive a link to connect your ELD.
- Select your vendor: Choose from the list of supported Electronic Logging Device (ELD) providers.
- Follow the steps: Each vendor has its process—complete setup within 35 days of your policy's effective date.
If ELD isn’t an option, the dashcam is your alternative.
Option 2: Outward-Facing Dashcam
New Update: No More Inward-Facing Cameras
Why Choose Dashcam?
- Ideal for drivers without a compatible Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
- Delivers real-time safety insights and claims support through a road-facing lens.
- Enhanced monitoring with a simple install.
- Now provides greater driver privacy.
