Can a policyholder use their own dashcam?

If you choose the dashcam telemetry-sharing option on behalf of your client, Cover Whale must supply the device.

Last Updated 2/2/24

Based on a each policyholder's preference, during the application process agents can choose between two telemetry data-sharing options: either connecting an existing Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or receiving and installing a dual-facing dashcam.

If the dashcam option is chosen, policyholders are required to use a Cover Whale-issued dashcam and cannot supply their own device in order to comply with the terms of their insurance policy. This ensures we can provide policyholders with competitive rates while maintaining a consistent standard of data quality.
